Tire Changes in Kitchener, ON

Change Your Tires at Heffner Toyota

Canadian drivers are no strangers to regular tire changes. Though tires have a lengthy lifespan, there are many reasons why your Toyota will need one scheduled throughout the year. Our extreme climate means that road surfaces can vary between blistering hot surfaces in the heat of summer, to slippery hazards in Canada’s famously snowy winters. That’s not to mention everyday wear and tear! Keep reading to learn more about changing your tires and why you should choose Heffner Toyota’s certified technicians.

How Often Should You Change Your Tires?

In general, we recommend that you change your tires approximately every 80,000 km (or, around 50,000 miles), or every six years–whichever comes first. Of course, there are additional reasons to change your tires, such as uneven wear, balding, bulging, or other visible signs of aging or damage. As well, seasonal tire changes should be booked as required based on consistent changes in the temperature and respective road conditions. If you’re unsure about your Toyota’s tires, be sure to consult your owner’s manual or one of our service advisors.

How to Choose Tires For Your Toyota

Heffner Toyota partners with 16 of Canada’s leading tire brands, likely leading you to wonder: how do you know which tires are right for your Toyota? Our certified service technicians are happy to recommend the perfect tires for your vehicle when you bring it in for a change, but here are some tips to help you get a feel for the various tires you’ll find on the market:

WINTER

Winter Tires:

Winter tires are constructed from a soft rubber compound that helps them stay flexible in low temperatures. Equipped with a thick, deep tread for maintaining grip on slippery, snowy roads, these tires are best for conditions of 7°C and below, making them the equivalent of winter boots for your vehicle.
SUMMER

Summer/Performance Tires:

Summer or “Performance” tires serve a similar purpose to your sneakers. Designed for temperatures of above 7°C, these stiffer tires are designed with a shallower tread for improved traction and movement on hot or rain-slick road surfaces.
ALL SEASON

All-Season Tires:

Drivers who want to skip the hassle of changing their tires frequently might opt for a set of All-Season tires, but only ones listed with a snowflake symbol are rated to stand up to Canadian winters. All-Season are good all-rounders, but won’t deliver the same performance as specialized winter or summer tires.

Light Truck Tires:

Also known as “LT” tires, Light Truck models are designed for vehicles trailering or carrying heavy loads. Reinforced with rigid sidewalls and a deeper tread, Light Truck tires can weather the off-road and withstand temperatures as low as 7°C.

Tire Tip: Replace All Four Tires at Once

When purchasing new tires for your Toyota, it’s important that you replace the entire set at once. Though this may sound expensive, it will ultimately save you additional tire purchases and dealership visits in the long run, and will ensure you get the most out of your tires by having them wear evenly.
